With an exhibition of Zaha Hadid, one of the most influential figures in modern architecture, were opened on May 28th 2007 the “Weeks of European Architecture”, an event organized by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, the Union of Architects in Bulgaria, the Ministry of Culture and the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy. The long-term purpose of this project, initiated by the Yakov Chernihov International Foundation, is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of architectural designing in Bulgaria and to further the development of a conceptionally based architectural environment in this country.
The Bulgarian public was shown for the first time a model of one of Zaha Hadid’s most remarkable creations – a modern building housing the Centre of Culture and Sport of the Department of Herault, France. On show were also photographs of emblematic designs by Zaha Hadid in the domain of architecture and urban development.
Zaha Hadid and the architectural bureau headed by her are internationally renowned for their innovative and visionary approach to architecture, interior design and urban development. Zaha Hadid is also widely known for her experiments and original spatial concepts. Her architectural works are part of the urban landscape of such megapolises as Rome, Beijing, London, Copenhagen, Madrid and others.
