For the first time, the Bulgarian audience will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the Italian heritage of renowned Bulgarian painter Ivan Marinov (1877Ė 1941). The exhibition displays his paintings from his years as a university student in Italy, works of Italian artists preserved by Marinovís heirs as well as works of colleagues and friends with whom he studied at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin at the end of the 19th century. The exhibition traces the influence which the Italian school of painting has had on Bulgarian artists from the late 19th and early 20th century. The projectís consultant is Professor Giorgio Dragoni from the University of Turin, who will deliver two public lectures on the artists of the Albertina Academy in Turin and the Piedmont painting tradition from the second half of 19th century. The exhibition is accompanied by a luxury bilingual catalog in Bulgarian and Italian, containing all the artistic and documentary material from the exhibition along with commentary of art critics.
