An exhibition of Erbolat Tolepbay, a prominent artist from Kazakhstan, member of the Academies of Arts of Russia, the Czech Republic and Kazakhstan, was opened on January 10, 2008 at the National Academy for Foreign Art.
He was born in 1955 and graduated graphic art with the University of Abay. Since 1974 his works have been exhibited in Kazakhstan and in other 35 countries across the world, including France, Italy, Germany, India, China, Egypt. They are also owned by galleries and private collections in Europe, America and Asia. He was awarded many national and international prizes and distinctions.
The existential topics in the art of Erbolat Tolepbay, which have found an artistic expression in his paintings, include the great and the petty, the simplicity and the complexity, the hope and the trust, the tired loneliness, fusion and withdrawal of nature. The content of his paintings is philosophic, sophisticated and often tragic when he interprets national topics. The land and the people of Kazakhstan, the steppe and the cities, the past and the present, the love to man and the responsibility for his land comprise the whole spectre of issues which excite the artist.
