ANDRE DE LIMA - Brazil
October 5, 2007

Andre de Lima was born in Oslo in 1973. He graduated architecture and urbanization at the Santa Ursula University of Rio de Janeiro, however his interest to painting got the upper hand and he turned to the two-dimensional means of expression and colour harmony. The lessons learnt from eminent Brazilian artists Candido Portinari and Antonio Dias inspired the young artist and he started persistently seeking his own Window of the Possible.

As a typical representative of the young generation of Brazilian artists, Andre de Lima is often travelling to North America and Europe. His participations in group exhibitions in Washington and Vienna, which represent the specifics of the contemporary Brazilian art, gave him self-confidence and experience. His one-man exhibitions in Belgrade, Roma, Budva and Novi Sad have shown an already shaped art style, which bears signs of his education as an architect and his devotion to the strong monumental tradition of Latin America.
